The chairman of the House committee that oversees the Army Corps of Engineers levee system will be in Omaha on Saturday to get a first-hand look at the flood damage. Nebraska 2nd District Congressman Lee Terry says House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, Representative John Mica will walk the levee systems and survey the damage first hand.
Congressman Terry wants Mica to experience first hand what flood victims went through and are still going through. Congressman Terry also plans to address a concern that has been mentioned several times that the Corps of Engineers has paid more attention to species control and recreation and not to the loss of economy, property and agricultural land. Congressman Terry hopes Mica will call hearings to get the answers Nebraskans want.
Along with Congressman Terry, Iowa Congressman Tom Latham will join Mica on the tour.
