On today’s report, Sean Callahan, who covers the Huskers for us on the ground at fall camp, tells us about the offense and how it’s developing in the eyes of wide receiver Brandon Kinnie, as well as the development of quarterback Taylor Martinez.
To throw my two cents in, I think it’s great that Taylor is becoming a better on the field leader, but even as young as he was last season, his greatest asset was his ability to run the football and once he got hurt, that really limited what the Huskers were able to do on offense. Martinez went from rushing over 100 yards per game to gaining just 95 yards on the ground in the final five games that he played in. A healthy Martinez is key, because there is not a lot of depth at quarterback behind Taylor. Bo Pelini talked about quarterback Brion Carnes who appears to be the top back up right now.
