Authorities say they’ve determined the cause of this week’s crash on Interstate 80 that killed a woman who was going to her son’s court appearance.
Investigators say the car blew a tire on Monday near Brule, just west of Ogallala. The vehicle went out of control and crashed in the median, killing the driver and injuring both passengers.
The Nebraska State Patrol identifies the driver as 57-year-old Janie Hackbart, of Julesburg, Colorado. Her 20-year-old daughter, Alisha, was among the injured.
Reports say the three were on the way to North Platte to attend a court appearance for Hackbart’s son, Dean, who pleaded not guilty to charges he sexually assaulted a child.
