Look to the skies this Saturday and Sunday in Bellevue. It is the Defenders of Freedom Open House and Air Show at Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue.
This year’s show features the U-S Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle Demo Team, the U-S Army’s Golden Knights, a B-2 Spirit flyby and static as well as the Lima Lima T-34 Demo Team, Trojan Phylers T-28 Demo Team and for the first time a Russian Attack Helicopter performance. There will be more than 20 aerial performers and more than 30 static displays.
Air show visitors are reminded that weapons of any kind and explosives are not permitted on Offutt grounds. Visitors can bring folding chairs but they will need to be removed from carrying cases when going through security. Coolers, backpacks and large tote bags are not allowed.
Offutt Air Force Base is located south of Bellevue just west of Highway 75. Parking at the base will be a premium and you may have to walk a ways to get to the gate. Guests are asked to approach Offutt from Highway 75 or Fort Crook Road. An alternative to base parking is a shuttle service to the base. Visitors are allowed to park at Southroads Technology Center at Ft. Crook and Childs Road. Parking and shuttle services are also provided at Bellevue University, Bellevue East High School and Bellevue West High School.
Gates on Saturday and Sunday will open at 8 am. The Defenders of Freedom Open House and Air Show will officially start at 11 am both days.
