Two weeks ago a major hail storm damaged many buildings, homes and vehicles in eastern Nebraska and western Iowa. Jim Hegarty is the Chief Executive of the Better Business Bureau in Nebraska and says now roofing companies are coming out of the woodwork going door-to-door securing deals to fix the damage. He says many flood and storm damage repair crews are out-of-towners looking for victims to scam. He says they are fly-by-night companies and usually do a shabby job. Since they follow storms they are already looking for new victims. He says when the last roof goes on, they’re gone and they won’t be anywhere to be found if you have warranty or workmanship issues.
Hegarty says there is a new twist these out-of-town repair outfits are using. He says they are now contacting well established local roofing companies and offering them large amounts of cash to use their name on a temporary basis.
Hegarty says to always check with the BBB if you have any questions about a company and always use one that is local and well established to do storm repairs.
