Memorial Stadium is getting a facelift and the east side of the building is under construction which could make for some delays for Saturday’s season opener if you are not prepared. Associate Athletic Director Butch Hug says if you allow some extra time you should have no problems.
Basically fans heading through gates 15-24 will be affected. Hug mentions that you will enter from a large walkway off the stadium loop, through the middle of the construction zone, and then fan out to their specific gates. With the game scheduled at 2:30, daylight and allowing extra time should help you familiarize yourself with the setup for this season.
The east side of the stadium is also a popular place for fans to meet. Hug offers up suggestions for that as well.
