They did it! The Omaha Storm Chasers have clinched their division and guaranteed their first playoff birth since 1999. Omaha pounded their first round playoff opponent (Round Rock) 12-2, but had to wait for Memphis to finish their game with Albuquerque before popping the champagne. The Isotopes led 2-0 most of the way, but Memphis tied it in the bottom of the 8th, forced extras, then fell 3-2 in eleven innings. The team was following the game online shouting how many outs were left the whole time.
PCL Pitcher of the Year winner, Luis Mendoza, had a shaky start allowing two runs before recording an out, but he settled in, picking up another win. Lorenzo Cain went 5-5, and Jarrod Dyson hit a homer.
Clint Robinson and KIla Ka’ihue sat out with injuries. Kila will be out a few days, Clint could be more. Fingers are crossed he’s ready for the playoffs.
