September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, a time to spotlight children with cancer or those who have survived. Tenille Seuss is a volunteer with Camp Quality Heartland and says they are holding a special event on Saturday at noon to raise awareness and raise funds for their project. They will be releasing 75 butterflies to show their continued support.
Camp Quality is held every summer for children in Nebraska and Iowa with cancer or in remission. The child’s siblings are also invited to attend the camp. There is no charge to the family and the camp is staffed 24/7 with medical personnel. They also hold a camp in the winter for older children suffering with cancer. About 90 children attended camp this past summer at the Gene Eppley – Salvation Army Campgrounds south of Bellevue.
Saturday’s event will be held at the Amphitheater area at Shadow Lake Towne Center in Papillion, Highway 370 and 72nd Street. Members of the Heartland group will be there from 10 until 2.
