The Women’s Center for Advancement in Omaha, formerly the YWCA, is hosting a job fair Tuesday, September 20th. Director of Transitions and Career Services, Margo Parsow, says while men are also invited to come in and apply for positions, the events planned are geared to women. They want to make sure a woman looks and feels her best so they are offering several services to help them look the part when they go to apply for a job.
The Center features what is known as their Career Closet where business suits, pantsuits, slacks and jackets are given to women to use for job interviews. Each woman in need of professional clothing can visit the closet Tuesday and receive an outfit, shoes and accessories.
Parsow says the career fair will include business experts to help women with their resumes, interview techniques, employment search and other issues. There will also be a legal team available to answer questions ranging from protection orders to custody issues.
About a dozen employers are taking part. The Women’s Center for Advancement is located at 29th and Farnam Streets in Omaha. The career fair will start at 8 am and wrap up at 5 pm.
