Offensive coordinator Tim Beck is featured on today’s Big Red Report as he talks about the game play and develop of Taylor Martinez in his new system that just three weeks in is beginning to show signs of how good this team can be.
Last year under Shawn Watson’s offense, Taylor would get the play and that’s what the offense would run. One of the biggest changes in responsibility for Martinez is checking off, changing plays at the line, more freedom. There is also a maturity factor that is coming into play now that Taylor has a season under his belt.
One thing about Bo Pelini coached teams, you can expect them to always be ranked near the top in defensive categories, at least that’s what we’ve come to expect, but Pelini while not happy with the defensive effort yet this season is not ready to panic over the numbers for the Blackshirts who ranks 61st nationally in rushing defense, 66th in scoring defense, 67th in total defense and 78th in pass defense.
