There is good news for regular users of I-29 north of Council Bluffs. Iowa Department of Transportation spokesperson Dena Gray-Fisher says Interstate 29 north of 25th Street or milepost 55 to the Loveland – I-680 interchange at milepost 71, could reopen to traffic as early as today.
Gray Fisher says crews are in the last stages of cleaning the pavement, checking the area for safety hazards and repainting lines. Once that is done, the barriers will come down.
Gray-Fisher says they are working as quickly as possible to reopen that stretch of interstate. They are putting public safety first and if they find problems the reopening could be delayed until later this weekend.
That section of I-29 was closed in June due to Missouri River flooding.
