It will take a while but things are finally getting back to normal after three months of Missouri River flooding at Eppley Airfield in Omaha. Stan Kathol is the director of finance and administration with Eppley and says pumps continue to hum. They are running 70 de-watering wells to address the elevated groundwater levels.
Demolition of their flood control operation is underway. Kathol says they awarded a contract for the removal of all the sandbags protecting their property.
Eppley Airfield had two goals during the flood. First, they wanted to maintain normal operations and second to protect their assets. Kathol says both were accomplished.
The cost to battle the flood at Eppley is $17-and-a-half-million and bills continue to come in.
