You know Husker football fans travel well, hotels and motels in Madison Wisconsin are booked, but one Badger fan in Madison is renting his house out to some Husker fans making the trip. He talked to a Madison TV station and didn’t want his name or identity released. Not only did he rent his house, he’s handing over his tickets.
Several homes were listed for rent on Craig’s list by Badger fans. Talk about another type of Craig’s list. Roger Craig along with another former Husker great Will Shields are among 103 candidates for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, as the 2012 candidates. Shields is one of 11 first-year eligible candidates this year. He was a 12-time Pro Bowler and nine-time All-Pro selection for the Kansas City Chiefs during his playing career. He started 231 consecutive games for the Chiefs, spanning 14 seasons, and was the 2003 Walter Payton Man of the Year for his community work with his Will to Succeed Foundation.
Craig, who was one of 15 modern-era finalists in 2010, played for the San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles Raiders and Minnesota Vikings. A four-time All-Pro, he won three Super Bowl titles with the 49ers, and was the 1998 NFL Offensive Player of the Year. In 1985, he was the first NFL player to gain 1,000 yards rushing and receiving in the same season. He finished his 11-year career with 8,189 rushing yards, 566 receptions and totaled 73 touchdowns (56 rushing and 17 pass receptions).
