The Lincoln Southwest softball team broke the state record for home runs in a season with its 28th in the first game of a doubleheader Monday night against Fremont. The Silver Hawks had four home runs in the doubleheader. Sophomore Megan May hit the home run that broke the record set by Papillion-La Vista South last season. May has seven homer this year, while Tania Caroll has six. Liz Dike, a Creighton recruit, leads the team with nine.
Defending Class A state volleyball champion Papillion-La Vista South extended its winning streak to 57 straight matches with a 25-16, 25-7, 25-14 home victory against Lincoln Northeast on Wednesday night.
