By this time next week, Riverfront Drive in Omaha should begin to appear as it did prior to this summer’s flooding. Omaha Public Works spokesman Marty Grate says heavy cranes and crews will remove all the pumping equipment and piping that had to cross the road near the I-480 Bridge at Rick’s Boatyard Cafe.
Grate says a large crane will begin removing the pumps from the Burt-Izard Street Station which is located behind the Century Link Center (Qwest Center). A large drainage area built in the National Park Service parking lot will also be removed. Their employees have not been able to use the parking area for months.
The goal is to have Riverfront Drive back to normal by the weekend.
