Junior Dion Acoff scored in both of Creighton’s road wins last week and for his efforts he was named the Missouri Valley Conference Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week and to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week on Monday. Acoff scored at Wisconsin and at 10th-ranked Indiana as the fifth-ranked Bluejays improved to 10-1-0 on the season.
Acoff, a first-team all-MVC forward last year, scored the equalizer against Wisconsin last Wednesday night just three minutes after the Bluejays had fallen behind the Badgers 1-0. Creighton would top Wisconsin 2-1 in overtime on Greg Jordan’s game-winning goal in the 94th minute.
The forward from Upton, Calif., then scored the game’s lone goal against Indiana on Sunday, leading the Bluejays to a 1-0 win in Bloomington, Ind. His goal in the 42nd minute found the back of the net after deflecting off of an IU defender. The scored proved to be the first game-winning goal of his career.
The Bluejays conclude their season-long four-game road trip when they open Missouri Valley Conference play Wednesday at Missouri State (3-5-2, 1-0-0 MVC).
