Douglas County will be cutting a check to the father of convicted murderer Christopher Edwards. Douglas County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Chief Marty Bilek says acting on a tip last week investigators searched the back yard of Robert Edwards at 111th and Blondo Streets for evidence in the murder of Jessica O’Grady. In the process of the search, CSI tore up a concrete patio under a deck. He says since they damaged Mr. Edward’s property, they are responsible to pay for repairs.
Deputy Chief Belik says while they did repair most of the damage themselves they will pay Edwards so he can hire a contractor to come in and replace the concrete. This money will be paid from a fund with money seized from drug dealer trafficking through Omaha. The estimated cost is $5,000.
