What if soldiers were able to use their G-I Bill benefits to start a new business?
That’s the plan Congressman Jeff Fortenberry is proposing in the U.S. House as an alternative to using the benefits for education.
Fortenberry says while starting any small business is a risk, most new jobs come from small business.
The Congressman says there is a tougher rate in terms of survivability of small businesses, but he says veteran-owned small businesses actually have a higher chance of surviving.
“I think it is a winner in meeting these objectives of creating jobs and helping those who have served us.” Fortenberry says.
Fortenberry tells us that some soldiers already have an educational background once leaving the military and they can put their skills to work quicker if they establish their own business.
