After a bye week at the midpoint of its 2011 schedule, Nebraska begins the second half of its regular season this Saturday afternoon when the Huskers travel toMinneapolisto take on the Golden Gophers. The game from Minnesota’s TCF Bank Stadium will be televised regionally on ABC with kickoff set for shortly after 2:30 p.m. CT.
Nebraskaenters the game with a 5-1 record, including a 1-1 record in Big Ten Conference play. The matchup withMinnesotais the Huskers’ first division contest in the Big Ten Legends Division after a pair of games against opponents from the Leaders Division.
Before its off week,Nebraskahad a dramatic 34-27 victory over OhioStat eon Homecoming in Lincoln.
NU trailed 27-6 midway through the third quarter, before rallying to post the largest comeback in school history and post its first-ever win in three tries against the Buckeyes.
At 5-1, Nebraskawill enter the game atMinnesotaranked 13th in the Associated Press Poll, 11th in the USA Today Coaches poll and 13th in the first BCS standings of the 2011 campaign.
Minnesota is also coming off a bye week. The Gophers stand at 1-5 on the season, including an 0-2 mark in Big Ten action.
Two of the Gophers’ losses this season have come at the hands of ranked opponents, and two of their setbacks have been by a touchdown or less.
