The U-S Army Corps of Engineers met with the public last night in Omaha. Several hundred people showed up for the first in a series of public meetings with the Corps to talk about flood control along the Missouri River.
Their plan for 2012… They plan to release the same amount of water as they did this year. They maintain the amount of water released was necessary and the bottom line was too much rain in one area last spring.
Those at the meeting blamed the Corps for protecting recreation upstream. The Corps did say that is one of their seven priorities but so is flood control to property.
The Corps also has meetings planned for Iowa, the Dakotas, Missouri and Kansas.
