The Nebraska volleyball team is now #1 in the latest AVCA Coaches poll released Monday afternoon. The Huskers, who improved to 17-1 on the year following a 3-1 win over then #1 Illinois on Saturday night.
Since 2001, the Huskers have been ranked No. 1 for 49 weeks, including holding the top spot nationally for the entire 2006 season and for 15 weeks during the 2005 season. The last time Nebraska was ranked No. 1 was in October of 2007.
California is ranked and Illinois dropped to third. USC and Stanford round out the top five. Five other Big Ten teams are in the poll this week, including Penn State (No. 8), Purdue (No. 11), Minnesota (No. 15), Michigan (No. 22) and Ohio State (No. 23).
