Nebraska coach Mark Manning picked up one of the highest coaching honors in international wrestling when he was named 2011’s Best Coach for men’s freestyle wrestling. Manning will receive this honor at the 2012 Pan American Championships set for Colorado Springs, Colo., on Feb. 22-26.
Manning helped former Husker Jordan Burroughs become the first American to claim a World Championship since 2006. Manning told USA Wrestling, “I am very flattered and honored with this award. A lot of the credit goes to Jordan Burroughs and his performance, as well as my entire staff at Nebraska. It is our team effort that makes this award possible. It was an overwhelming surprise to be honored like this.”
