Brandon Richardson who played his high school ball not too far from the Southern Cal campus came up big last night for the Cornhuskers in their double overtime 64-61 win over the Trojans. His fourth three pointer of the night capped an 8-0 run in the second overtime period. Bo Spencer led NU with 22 points. Richardson had 12. Jorge Brian-Diaz finished with 10.
Spencer hit two free throws with nine seconds left and NU holding onto a 62-61 lead after USC made one final charge in the last minute of OT.
Nebraska is now 2-0 in double-overtime games under Sadler and 4-4 in overtime games overall under Sadler. The Huskers had lost their last three road overtime games since the win at CU. That was Nebraska’s only overtime road win since the 1997-98 season prior to tonight.
The Huskers are back home on Sunday to face Rhode Island.
