A prominent opponent of the Keystone XL oil pipeline applauds the work of legislators in the special session, but still has concerns.
Bold Nebraska has fought TransCanada’s proposal to build the Keystone XL pipeline from the beginning. Bold Nebraska’s Jane Kleeb says she was anxious going into the special session, and then pleased with its outcome, however.
“I still think that a lot of us have those anxious feelings that we entered the special session with, because we don’t trust TransCanada,” Kleeb says. “So, for us this is not about us not trusting our elected officials. For us, this is about TransCanada and them having way too much influence in the process.”
Kleeb says Bold Nebraska will watch TransCanada like a hawk if it received the presidential permit to proceed with its $7 billion, 1,700 mile oil pipeline.
