Good thing football is not won or lost on style points, but what we saw on Friday from the Huskers was pure determination and heart in their 20-7 win over the Iowa Hawkeyes. Bo Pelini said it was a proud moment for him as a coach.
When you consider what this team had to go through to finish 9-3, Friday’s win was quite an accomplishment. On the first play of the game, they lost both their defensive tackles and then offensive coordinator Tim Beck had to adjust the game plan for the second half with no running from Taylor Martinez after he injured his ankle. What makes this win even more special is the fact the Huskers bounced back after that touch loss at Michigan.
