Will he or won’t he?
Sen. Ben Nelson, a Democrat, is not yet saying whether he run for re-election. He says he is still looking at the facts and figures before moving forward. He says other considerations include his family and how he feels about another term in Washington. Meanwhile, Nelson says he continues to talk with supporters and constituents to see if another run would bring victory.
Nelson is also keeping an eye on the polls. One recent public opinion poll indicates Rpublican Jon Bruning, the state Attorney General, would defeat Neslon. Nelson says another poll indicates he has a significant lead over any Republican candidate. Nelson says that the Hickman Poll indicates he enjoys an approval rating at 54% among Nebraska voters with a 40% disapproval rating. He says the numbers revealed in the poll, in some respects, show improvement over six years ago.
