The #2 seeded Nebraska volleyball squad opened the NCAA Tournament with their 27th straight first round win, by dominating first-time NCAA qualifier Jackson State with scores of 25-10, 25-16, 25-13 Thursday night in front of 4,192 fans at the NU Coliseum.
With the victory, Nebraska (25-4) advances to Friday’s second-round match at 7 p.m. Central against former conference rival Kansas State, who swept Wichita State in Thursday’s opening match.
Gina Mancuso and Brooke Delano led the Husker’s attack with 10 kills each, combining for 20 kills on 36 swings. Morgan Broekhuis added nine kills and Hannah Werth recorded seven kills and 11 digs. Nebraska hit .438 as a team, including the first and third sets, where the hitting percentage was over .500.
