The Nebraska women’s basketball team closes its non-conference road schedule by traveling to Flagstaff to take on Northern Arizona on Saturday at 2:35 p.m.
The Huskers will try to improve on their 8-1 record while searching for their third true road victory of the season. The 5-4 Lumberjacks have won three of their last four games and are a perfect 5-0 at the Rolle Activity Center so far this season.
Nebraska is coming off a 66-55 win over in-state rival Creighton at the Devaney Center on Thursday night. Sophomore Jordan Hooper helped the Huskers pull away for the double-digit win by scoring 17 of her game-high 22 points in the second half, including NU’s final eight points. Hooper, a Big 12 All-Freshman pick in 2011, leads the Huskers in scoring and rebounding with 18 points and 8.3 rebounds per game.
Junior point guard Lindsey Moore added 12 points, four assists and four steals against the Jays, including seven straight points late in the game. The honorable-mention All-Big 12 pick in 2011 ranks second on the team with 13.7 points per game, while leading the Huskers with 5.8 assists and 3.0 steals per contest.
While Nebraska is traveling across a time zone and playing at an altitude of approximately 7,000 feet after making a short turnaround from Thursday night’s game, Northern Arizona will have five days of rest and a home-court advantage against the Huskers.The Lumberjacks also bring an experienced lineup into the contest. Junior shooting guard Amy Patton leads NAU with 13.4 points and 7.8 assists per game, while senior poing guard Caty Huntington has added 7.9 points and 2.6 assists per contest. Junior center Aubrey Davis has added 7.4 points and 6.7 boards per game.
