Time is ticking at the Open Door Mission in Omaha for their “Project Santa” toy distribution. C-E-O Candace Gregory says the need they received a record number of requests for toys this year and they are having a difficult time filling the demand. The Open Door Mission received over 4.200 requests from children for toys and other gifts.
Gregory says they collect toys and other items for children ages infant through 18. The children were able to make requests they are short on several kinds of toys and other items including fleece blankets, board games, art sets, Barbie’s, baby dolls and hot wheel cars.
The Open Door Mission hope to have all of the toys and gifts collected by December 15th so they can organize and sort them. Parents and guardians will be able to pick them up on the 17th. The parents can then wrap them and put them under the tree for Christmas morning so a child won’t think they were forgotten.
Those still wanting to donate toys and other items can do so at the Open Door Mission, 21st East Locust Street in Omaha.
