Playing without Dylan Talley and Jorge Brian-Diaz, the Nebraska men’s basketball team didn’t have the fire power to keep up with #11 Wisconsin, losing 64-40 in their Big Ten opener at the Devaney Center.
NU scored the game’s first seven points and had a 10-5 lead to get the crowd of 11,422 excited early, but the Badgers went on a 19-2 from there to pull ahead. Hot shooting for Wisconsin, who shot 51% from the floor, including 11 of 21 from three point range was a big key, but head coach Doc Sadler thought the lack of offense was the issue. NU shot 30% for the game.

Toney McCray scored a team-high 16 points, hitting 6-of-15 shots from the floor, but was the only Husker in double figures. Ryan Evans led Wisconsin (12-2, 1-0 Big Ten) with a career-high 22 points on 9-of-11 shooting, while All-American Jordan Taylor added 15 points and five assists.
