Nebraska has 11 recruits for its 2012 class. Seven of them are on defense. Four of those seven are linebackers. With Lavonte David leaving and Will Compton and Sean Fisher seniors next year, NU needs to build some depth. They did that by adding Bingham, Utah linebacker Jared Afalava, rated the fourth best recruit from Utah according to rivals.com.
NU also picked up Avery Moss, a defensive end from Tempe, AZ who announced his decision on TV during the All-American Bowl in Phoenix.
Moss played at Tempe’s Corona del Sol, the same school that produced current Husker defensive lineman Todd Peat. Moss and Peat are cousins. Moss had 50 tackles and five sacks during his senior season. He suffered a broken wrist and missed most of his junior season. Moss is ranked a three-star recruit by Scout.com. Afalava, at 6-3 and 220 pounds, is also a three-star recruit and finished with 86 tackles for South Jordan High in Bingham.
