A Nebraska-based retail store chain will virtually vanish in a newly-announced merger.
Omaha-headquartered Pamida is pairing up with Shopko, based in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Terms of the deal aren’t being revealed.
The merger should be complete in the middle of next month. Both stores focus on smaller, rural communities.
No changes are planned at any of the Shopko stores, but some $80-million will be invested over the next year to convert most of the Pamida stores into Shopko Hometown stores.
Combined, they’ll have almost 350 stores in 22 states.
