An Omaha man is recovering after being injured in an officer involved shooting. Police say police were sent to the city’s northeast side after receiving a report of suspicious activity. When police arrived around 3 am they spotted a group of people and one man took off on foot. An officer chased the man for about two blocks when he pulled his weapon and fired a shot. The suspect was hit in the leg.
The 24 year old male was treated at the Nebraska Medical Center for a non-life threatening injury. The Omaha Police Department will conduct an internal investigation.
This follows a violent 24 hours in the Omaha metro. There have been five shootings in the last 24 hours. Just before noon on Tuesday, 22 year old Joshua Drummond was shot in the head at 25th and Maple Streets. He remains in critical condition Wednesday.
Drummond was a victim of a drive-by shooting.
Others injured in the last 24 hours include 17 year old Jackson Williams, 22 year old Raysean Barber and 23 year old Jennifer Moeller.
