Beatrice police are asking for the public’s help in locating a missing pickup after officers were involved in a high-speed chase Monday afternoon.
Police stopped pursuing the truck after it became too dangerous with other traffic on the highway. Sergeant Jay Murphy describes the vehicle they were chasing.
It was a maroon Ford extended cab pickup truck with a maroon topper and Texas plates. A man was driving and there was a woman passenger.
Murphy says the pursuit followed the attempted theft of a big-screen television from a store in north Beatrice.
Store officials described the suspect’s vehicle but as it turned out, the 40-inch TV had been left in a shopping cart in the corridor and had not been stolen.
Speeds during the chase reached 80 miles an hour. Anyone with tips is to call the Beatrice Police at 402-223-4080, or Gage County Crime Stoppers at 402-228-4343.
