It is one less thing to worry about when facing a cancer diagnosis. Mike Lefler with the Nebraska Chapter of the American Cancer Society says they are once again teaming with a number of hotels in the Omaha area to help those traveling to the metro for treatment by providing overnight stays free of charge.
Lefler says their Guestroom Program is for cancer patients living 50 to 100 miles away from their treatment facility in Omaha. Patients must be in active treatment where travel to and from the facility would promote a hardship. Hotels do reserve the right to limit availability during peak times such as the College World Series but most hotels make special arrangements to accommodate those needing a place to stay.
This service is especially helpful for those who need daily or weekly treatment over of period of months. More than a dozen hotels are participating. For those wanting more information on the Guestroom Program, contact the Nebraska Chapter of the American Cancer Society.
