The Huskers added their 13th recruit for 2012 by getting a verbal from 6’5 270 offensive lineman Corey Whitaker of Murrieta, California. He’s the second O-lineman for this class and just the fifth offensive player.
While the 2012 Husker football recruiting class becomes official next Wednesday, NU is already getting a jump on 2013 landing their first commit. He’s safety, quarterback Tre’Vell Dixon from Baldwin, LA. Scouts.com reports that Dixon plays quarterback, but his coaches are going to use him more at defensive back as well. Dixon was also recruited by Arizona State, Texas A & M and Texas Tech.
In other recruiting news, Grand Island quarterback Ryker Fyfe is going to walk on at Nebraska, turning down a scholarship offer from Nebraska-Kearney. Fyfe led the Islanders to a 9-2 record and either passed or ran for 35 touchdowns last season.
