TransCanada is moving forward as quickly as possible to try to find an alternate route for the Keystone XL oil pipeline through Nebraska. TransCanada Corporate Communications Specialist Shawn Howard says they are reviewing what information they do have and collecting more data. He says they are working with the state of Nebraska to obtain additional information for their research.
Even though the permit was denied, Howard says the State Department issued its final environmental impact statement back in August. The information in there still stands and the only thing that has really changed is the realignment of the route, about 100 miles, in Nebraska.
Howard says one question that does need to be answered is how much of the preparation materials, including the environmental impact study, can be used from the first application to the next.
