Chadron State College is announcing one of its largest-ever donations.
The estate of Ralph and Judith Hale is leaving the northwest Nebraska school about $700,000.
The Hales met at Chadron State decades ago while studying education and both earned degrees there in the 1960s.
After a brief stint where both taught at Hyannis High School, the couple moved to Las Vegas, where Mrs. Hale taught journalism and English, while Mr. Hale did photography.
Mrs. Hale died in May of last year, while her husband had died about seven years before.
The Chadron State Foundation says the couple’s contribution will be added to an endowment that pays for scholarships.
