Concordia University made it a sweep of the GPAC Regular and Postseason Championships with a 73-66 win over Mornngside on Tuesday night in the GPAC Championship Game in Seward, Nebraska.
Concordia led 39-36 at the intermission and went on a 10-2 run in the second half to open its largest lead of the game at 57-45 with 11:24 left in the game. Down 62-51 at the nine-minute mark, the Mustangs went on a 10-0 run of their own and closed within one point, 62-61, on a pair of free throws by Leann Osten with 5:40 left. Morningside trailed by three points, 69-66, at the two-minute mark and had three offensive possessions to cut into the lead, but failed to score. The Bulldogs were paced by Katie Rich’s 13 points in their 31st win of the season.
Both teams will go on to the 2012 NAIA Division II National Tournament slated for March 7-13 in Sioux City’s Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena.
