The Nebraska Supreme Court has ruled in favor of a state law, that malt beverages or “alchopops” should be taxed as a hard liquor… not beer.
Project Extra Mile spokesperson Diane Riibe tells us, they are urging state lawmakers to not change the law.
“We would urge that senators would not cowl to the alcohol industry and their power and pressure.” Riibe says.
Riibe is asking Governor Heineman to not sign the bill if it moves to that level.
She adds the ruling is a big win for Nebraskans and a multi-billion dollar industry should not determine tax rates in the state.
