Movie crews could have more of an incentive to set up production in Nebraska under a bill advancing in the legislature.
Sen. Colby Coash sponsors LB 863, which would allow local governments to use money from the Local Option Municipal Economic Development Act to lure production of movies, television shows and commercials to their communities. Fifty-five communities in Nebraska participate in LOMED.
“Participating in this, for many people, is chasing a dream and, unfortunately what we see is those in our state that have talent and want to chase this dream find themselves chasing this dream right out of our state,” Coash told colleagues in his close.
The bill advances on a 33-0 vote.
