A 17-0 run by Purdue gave them the lead and the Nebraska men’s basketball team could never fight back, losing 79-61 in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament in Indianapolis. The Huskers finish the season 12-18.
NU was 12-8, when Purdue went on their run over a seven minute span as the Boilermakers opened up a 13 point lead. Purdue shot 56% for the game and hit 13 three-pointers.
Senior guard Bo Spencer led the Huskers with 22 points, including 14 in the first half. It was Spencer’s 23rd double-figure scoring game of the season. Toney McCray and Dylan Talley also reached double figures with 13 and 10 points, respectively.
Nebraska connected on 41.5 percent of its field goal attempts (22-of-53) and made 8-of-27 three-pointers, and were out-rebounded by Purdue, 33-25.
Thursday’s loss was the final game for seniors McCray, Spencer, Brandon Richardson, and Caleb Walker.
