University of Nebraska Athletic Director Tom Osborne will hold a news conference this afternoon in which he is expected to announce that Nebraska head basketball coach Doc Sadler has been fired.
The university announced the news conference this afternoon. Shortly after the release, various news organizations reported that Sadler had been fired. Sadler is in his sixth year with the Cornhuskers after arriving from UTEP.
The Cornhuskers ended a disappointing season this year in the first round of the Big 10 Tournament, losing to Purdue 61-79. Nebraska ended the year 12-18 overall and 4-14 in the Big 10.
Sadler compiled a 101-89 record in his six seasons with the Cornhuskers. While he took Nebraska to the NIT three times, the Cornhuskers never made it to the NCAA Tournament under Sadler.
