Terry Joseph is Nebraska’s third defensive backs coach in three years, but the players seem to be adapting to his style of coaching. Just as important, coach Joseph is adjusting to life in Lincoln as well. Senior safety P.J. Smith has been a great addition to the staff. “He’s a great guy. He knows what he’s talking. We have a test every single day we get in there (the meeting room), we’ve never had that before…with that, you can see the guys really starting to learn.”
Head coach Bo Pelini had a pretty good feel for what he was getting when he went after Joseph, who worked under Derek Dooley at Tennessee for the last five years. Pelini calls him “a steal.” By no means was it an easy decision for him to leave Knoxville, but Joseph said he couldn’t pass up the opportunity to work with Pelini again. Joseph was a grad assistant under Pelini when Bo was at LSU.
