Tornado damage is being assessed in a community in central Nebraska.
A large upper level trough of low pressure emerged onto the plains Sunday evening spawning two tornadoes west of North Platte.
The initial tornado occured shortly after 9 o’clock Sunday night near Lake Maloney, five miles south of North Platte.
At about 9:15, a tornado was observed near the Union Pacific Bailey Yards.
Two houses were badly damaged and numerous power poles were down in the same area.
Also, 15 railroad cars were overturned by the tornado as it moved across the Bailey Yards tracking north along Highway 83.
Several people are reported injured. There conditions are unknown.
