Authorities have arrested eight people, suspected in the armed robbery of the Great Western Bank in Havelock, a neighborhood located in northeast Lincoln.
Lincoln Police Chief Jim Peschong says police followed the lead given by a witness to locate the suspected get-away car in Lincoln. Police arrested the driver and found a bandana that matched the description of one worn at the bank robbery. The break eventually led to the arrest of eight Lincoln and Omaha residents, one of whom, Cleopus Collier, recently was released from prison where he served time for robbing the Scheels Sporting Goods store in Lincoln of 80 handguns in 2007.
Peschong says some, but not all, of the money has been recovered. He also expects more people to be arrested in connection with the robbery.
