Officials in the North Platte area are releasing an early damage estimate from the series of four tornadoes that struck the area back on Sunday, March 18th.
Lincoln County Emergency Management Director Daniel Guenthner says it’s a preliminary figure.
“The dollar estimate that I have, and it’s not all in, we’re at about $2.1-million and I suspect that we’ll be over two-and-a-half million dollars when it all finally comes in,” he says.
Guenthner expects the numbers to rise as they continue to assess the damage to homes and businesses from the twisters.
Four people overall were hurt, all non-life threatning injuries.
A tornado relief fund has been established for the victims of the tornado and a local church is spearheading volunteer relief efforts.
About a hundred people fanned out in fields near North Platte over the weekend and picked up five semi-truck loads of debris.
