“I thought we had a good day coming back,” Nebraska head coach Bo Pelini said. “You always worry about it with a little bit of a lay off and what’s going to happen. We had a good practice; good tempo. I thought the recall of the things we’ve installed was pretty good. I thought it was a good practice for being off for eight, nine, 10 days.”
There was no easing back into things after taking 11 days off for spring break. The Huskers held a two hour practice in full pads. One area the Huskers are focusing on is attention to detail. Pelini describes it as players executing their job, every single play. Paying attention to the most minute details makes execution easier when things are moving at full speed. Despite the new additions to the coaching staff on the defensive side of the ball, Pelini thinks the staff is meshing together well.
“We have JP [John Papuchis], Ross [Els] and I have been together now for a couple years. Kaz [Rick Kaczenski] knows what’s expected having gone through the spring and Terry Joseph has been around me before. It’s a good group. I like our staff. I like our continuity. It’s like we’ve been together for a long time. That’s the advantage of hiring people you’ve been around and people who understand what the expectations are.”
NU practices again on Wednesday.
