After posting a 12-5 record during its 17-game home stand, the Nebraska baseball team is in Evanston, IL for a three game series at Northwestern. The Huskers then travel to Kansas State next Tuesday. Friday is the start of the Huskers’ first ever Big Ten Conference series on the road.
Nebraska comes into this series with good numbers offensively and defensively. The pitcher are getting plenty of support with 8.4 runs per game, which ranks fourth nationally. NU also ranks seventh in batting average (.329), 13th in home runs per game (1.00) and seventh in slugging percentage (.487). The defense is ranked 19th with a .978 fielding percentage.
The Wildcats are led by Geoff Rowan (.364), Jack Havey (.311) and Zach Morton (.307), but is one of five teams in the Big Ten with less than 10 home runs on the year.
The Wildcats pitching staff has been its strong point on the season with a team ERA of 4.05. Every starter the Huskers will see this weekend hase an ERA under 4.00, and are led by Friday night’s starter, Francis Brooke, who has a 1.77 ERA.
