The Omaha Storm Chasers closed out the season’s first homestand with a sweep of the Round Rock Express, 5-4. Thursday’s win was Omaha’s sixth in a row and pushes the defending PCL champions’ record to an impressive 7-1. Starter Nathan Adcock (2-0) earned his second win after going six scoreless innings.
The Storm Chasers were led offensively by Tony Abreu’s 3-for-4 performance along with his two RBI. In the season’s first eight games, Abreu’s hitting .472. Omaha jumped out to a 5-0 lead then held on at the end. Round Rock scored two runs in the seventh and one run in the eighth and an unearned run in the ninth, but left the tying run stranded on third when Round Rock’s right fielder, Joey Butler, grounded into a double-play to end the game.
